Applications of alloy design to cracking resistance of additively manufactured Ni-based alloys

چکیده

Utilisation of additive manufacturing (AM) for the fabrication Ni-based alloys has seen a massive uptake in both academic and commercial institutions. However, processing traditional superalloys through AM encountered numerous cracking issues. The primary forms include solidification, solid-state liquation mechanisms. Many these are influenced by compositions, with certain systems showing impressive resistance. design novel specifically tuned might be necessary to realise potential techniques. Recently, researchers have taken advantage improved computational alloy frameworks. These frameworks utilise methods such as neural networks analyse volumes data predict compositions that satisfy specific criteria.

Modeling of Processing-Induced Pore Morphology in an Additively-Manufactured Ti-6Al-4V Alloy

A selective laser melting (SLM)-based, additively-manufactured Ti-6Al-4V alloy is prone to the accumulation of undesirable defects during layer-by-layer material build-up. Defects in the form of complex-shaped pores are one of the critical issues that need to be considered during the processing of this alloy. Depending on the process parameters, pores with concave or convex boundaries may occur...

Mechanical Properties of Additively Manufactured Thick Honeycombs

Honeycombs resemble the structure of a number of natural and biological materials such as cancellous bone, wood, and cork. Thick honeycomb could be also used for energy absorption applications. Moreover, studying the mechanical behavior of honeycombs under in-plane loading could help understanding the mechanical behavior of more complex 3D tessellated structures such as porous biomaterials. In ...

Tarnish Resistance, Corrosion and Stress Corrosion Cracking of Gold Alloys

Tarnishing, corrosion and stress corrosion cracking (SeC) of gold alloys are related phenomena. They present problems when they occur in gold jewellery, dental gold alloys and electronic devices. They are exploited, however, in the depletion gilding and finishing of gold jewellery; and in the extraction, refining and fire assaying of gold. There is still much that is not known about these pheno...
